something is not done. What most people don't realize is that these tragedies

can and absolutely should be prevented. With the help of everyone around

As everyone knows this past year Matt Kato became the victim of a

drunk driving accident. Because someone decided to drive drunk Matt is not

with us anymore. Although this tragedy has brought about great pain and

anger to Matt's family and to many other people in the Rush-Henrietta

community it has also been an eye opening experience as well.

This may have been the wake up call that some people needed. Many

people saw fIrst hand just what drunk driving can do. The biggest question on

my mind is why? Why did this man so foolishly drive drunk knowing well

that he was not capable by any means? Why was Matt Kato's life the one

taken? These are just a few of the questions that have run through my head.

The next thing that ran through my head was that

Then I realized all I had to do was to be responsible. It is as simple as

that. Drunk driving is a dangerous game and it is one I don't intend on

participating in. I do however realize that my life is in fates hands just as Matt's

was. All I can do is hope and pray that every other individual thinks the way I do

and chooses to be responsible about the actions they take.

Your life is a precious gift and it is not meant to be taken. Think before

you act and be responsible about the decisions you or your friends make.

Remember the old saying "friends don't let friends drive drunk" and maybe you

could be the next one to save a life.
